Propositions On Disappearance III

The Propositions On Disappearance by YU Yen-Fang is a solo-dance series which began in 2011. Its third piece returns to her personal stories with her deceased father, in which she uses her speech and bodily expression to imitate her father as if he were brought back to life, thus re-creating the emotional networks and international relationships her father once belonged to. Following the theme of the series, the work with its integrated theatrical elements touches upon the sense of loss as it navigates the threshold between performance and daily life, onstage and offstage, representation and disappearance to theatrically reunite the artist and her father.

Propositions On Disappearance III features a collective effort of theatre artists from different backgrounds, bringing music, visual art, space, photography, lighting and dance together to be choregraphed into a unique array of life scenes surrounding the transition and juxtaposition between presence and disappearance.。

*The first and second parts of the Propositions On Disappearance series were invited by the curator CHOU Shu-Yi to be performed on the Next Choreography Project in 2011 and 2013, respectively. Propositions On Dissappearance III premiered in 2019 and was selected as the finalist at the 18th Taishin Arts Award.
